About Us
Kodivel Scholastic Centre is a nonprofit, non political organisation, established since 2016 with the sole aim of promoting the welfare of the delft community in several aspects.
About Kodivel
The Kodivel Scholastic Centre was founded by Mr. Ponnampalam Amirtharatnarajah in 2016 in memory of his forefather, Mr. Subramaniyam Nagendrar, affectionately known as Kodivel. With the support of Mr. Cristopher William Wijekoon Kanagara, Mr. Amirtharatnarajah established the Delft Mahavidyalaya on his own land.
Kodivel, who served as the Delft Chief Government Officer during his time, was renowned for his generosity and dedication to the people of Delft. His wife, Mrs. Nagendrar Sellama, also made history as the first female Chief Government Officer in Sri Lanka. Inspired by Kodivel’s legacy, we the grandchildren and great-grandchildren have continued his mission to serve the Delft community. Our organization has flourished with the unwavering support of our family across the world, and we take pride in continuing this service in Kodivel’s name.
Drinking Water Service
Our Drinking Water Service provides affordable clean water to the people of Delft. This essential service is offered at a lower cost and is free for schools and during funerals, ensuring that everyone in the community has access to clean drinking water.
Tourist Boat Service
Our Tourist Boat Service offers fast, safe, and convenient transportation for both local and international tourists wishing to explore the beautiful Delft Island. Experience the island’s unique culture and scenery with ease.
Passenger Boat Service
Started by Kodivel Arivalayam with the help of Keatheeswaran (Ketha), our Passenger Boat Service connects the people of Delft to the mainland. This essential service was established to address the limited government-provided boat services and continues to operate to this day.
